Obtaining Technical Support

Here are some tips for finding support, drivers, updates, and other information for the various products you use with your computer. Usually, companies on the web can be reached by going to:

http://www.company name.com/

Drivers, updates, and other files, if not available through on the respective web site, can be found at their respective FTP (file transfer protocol) sites:

ftp://ftp.company name.com/

If you are using an FTP client instead of your browser to access FTP, you can log into most of these sites by entering Anonymous for the login name, and your email address for the password.

If you require technical support, don't go to the place you bought the product - you'll be wasting your time. Instead, contact the manufacturer. If you've just bought the product, and it doesn't work, don't waste any of your valuable time on it - return it immedately and buy something else.

Lastly, for Microsoft products, try searching Microsoft's Personal Support Center (not the same as Microsoft's standard website search, and much more useful). If you can't find an answer to your query there, try contacting them directly (this one's free).
