Computer running too slow after system restore

I had problems with virus infection, so I reformatted the hard drive and re-installed
the windows xp and office using the original cd/DVD. Now its running slow. The task
manager shows 100% sometimes, 70+most times. Can someone suggest why this is suddenly
happening eventhough everything is back to factory setting. I have norton's security
installed and ran virus scan with nothing found.
Thank you.

Which process is consuming your CPU cycles ?
Click twice on the CPU column in Task Manager to find out.

Reformatting and re-installing XP does not restore a computer to its original factory
settings, you must install all of the device drivers. Especially critical are the
motherboard device drivers. Did you omit that step?

Hi, in reply to both of you:
1. ccProxy was on top with 98% 100k+ memory usage. Then svchost, and several iexplore's.
It didn't let me stop the ccProxy. I got an access denied message.
2. How do I load device drivers. I have the original set of 2 restore DVDs created
after I bought the machine brand new. There are no instructions for that. Can you
help me how one goes about doing it, in case if I need to do it.
3. I replaced the hard drive (for $45) at micro center because I need that machine
running because my phone (magicjack) depends on it. The problem is gone now but I'd
like to understand if the HDD was still infected after formatting it.
4. Is it ok (safe) to re-use that HDD in a SATA casing as extra usb drive. I backed
up all my data, so I don't really need it if I shouldn't use it. Do I need the killdisk(?)
program before using it ?
Thanks for your assistance.

You should have used the restore DVD's. To learn how to use them, ask the computer
manufacturer's tech support. There's not one way to do it.

I suspect that it would be obvious if you just browsed the contents of the two disks.
You probably just use one of them.
