have a epson LQ-200 and can not get vista to connect it. any help would be great.

Seems that Epson do not supply a driver for XP
LQ-200 Impact Printer Support Drivers & Downloads
Best bet would be to buy a new printer I reckon

Too old to die young

I used dot matrix printers about 15 years ago - your one could be worth something at an antiques market.

Do the obvious and check your cables, power, etc. You may try in compatibility mode. 
I have a number of customers that are successfully running basic printing functions 
under Vista with the native drivers provided. That does not guarantee that it will 
work for you, You may be able to go into the driver set-up manually and try to manually 
point our a driver for a machine of the same make-similar model and get away with 
that. I have had good success doing that. Bottom line is there are very few Dot-Matrix 
units that have proven still viable in todays market. Some of the better business 
models will do the job if you have  a particular need. You might find some help in 
this endeavor at the following link;
