That is not quite correct. It used to be the case, but these days more and more
anti-virus and anti-malware programs are being designed to run in tandem. PC-Tools
Threatfire is one example. This is a program which can either work alone, or monitor
the behaviour of the other system, and mop up anything it misses. There is no conflict
and no reduction in performance.
