More than one AV program is all CON..  One see's the others activity as suspicious.  You never run two AV's together.  You end up with reduced functionality of one, usually both and weird things start happening. They usually warn you about this if you try.

Now malware apps (like Adawre, Spybot etc) are a little different, but I don't let them run actively together.  I run them independantly to check the drive(s) and then end them so they don't run in the background.  Those you can run more than one, but again, not at the same time in my experience.
