Valve Software has a beta of a new version of their "Steam" gaming engine out.
They dropped the Internet Explorer rendering engine (Trident)
in favor of the WebKit engine (used by e.g. Google Chrome).

On an interesting note,
they took something that used to work quite well under WINE

and made it do considerably worse.

(It appears that some guys have already figured out some tricks
with one guy showing a jump from awful compatibility to pretty good.)
