That sounds like a pretty good system, Gary - I'd suggest you follow through on
Martin's advice. If it's so quick in Safe mode, there's clearly something outside
of the basic Win7 installation causing a problem. On the assumption it's unlikely
to be a driver, then it's probably an application, and I would still suggest you
look at your Startup list, just to be sure. You might consider uninstalling any
software you have already installed, backing up your data first of course, and then
re-installing one by one in the hope of identifying the particular program causing
the problem.
It is also conceivable that your startup delay is being caused by dysfunctional
registry entries. For example, if you were sharing a network printer which has been
taken away, your system will still be searching for it each time you boot up, and
that typically wastes one full minute. The best way to solve this problem is to
run a good-quality registry cleaner. I know how deeply unfashionable such advice
is among some subscribers to this forum, but I cannot help that.
You should also fully optimise your hard drive - don't just defrag, optimise fully.
This can make a surprising difference.
