Desktop Composition (Aero effects) turns itself off after a few minutes of no use

Hi, I am having a particulary annoying problem here. I am pretty sure it has something
to do with my Windows configuration but I am not sure what.
If I leave my laptop alone for a few minutes (about 5 minutes) the Aero effects
shut off by itself leaving just the basic theme; a few seconds later the display
goes into low power mode (shuts off due to the power settings i've set up)
Only thing is, I've set up my Power Options to not turn the display off after
x amount of time, so I am not sure why it is doing this.
Is it normal for the Aero effects to do this before the display shuts off and
am I possibly missing setting somewhere that could be overriding the default windows
Power Options?
I'm not running any programs when this happens, I have plenty of ram, and the
video card is new enough to run Aero with no trouble.
Specs:
Toshiba Qosmio x505 Q885
Intel Core i5 450M (2.4 Ghz)
4 Gigs of RAM
nVidia GeForce GTS360M (Dedicated 1GB card)
