I'm using an older computer with Win2k as a secondary machine. The other day I booted the machine and found that all of the desktop icons on the right side of the screen had vanished. I was eventually able to find all of the files and folders in  "C:\documents and settings\gateway\user.bak\desktop". I have a backup of most of the files and can copy those that I don't but it would be nice to restore things as they were. There are a few applications on this machine that I would like to continue using. I would appreciate any suggestions and insights towards correcting the problem. Thank you for your time.
