Referring to my Win2K system, Here is my Win.ini:
; for 16-bit app support
[fonts]
[extensions]
[mci extensions]
[files]
So with no 16 bit apps, it isn't needed, I guess.
Here is my System.ini:
; for 16-bit app support
[386Enh]
woafont=dosapp.fon
EGA80WOA.FON=EGA80WOA.FON
EGA40WOA.FON=EGA40WOA.FON
CGA80WOA.FON=CGA80WOA.FON
CGA40WOA.FON=CGA40WOA.FON
[drivers]
wave=mmdrv.dll
timer=timer.drv
[mci]
Again, no 16 bit apps, no need.
Here is my Boot.ini:
[boot loader]
timeout=120
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="WINNT" /fastdetect/
C:\="Microsoft Windows 98"
I edited it manually with a text editor. I can't remember if I had to do the ATTRIB.EXE
-R -H -S to make it accessible.
Since it deals with booting to multiple operating systems, it may not be needed in
a system with one OS.
I did a search and MSCONFIG.EXE is in my Win98 partition only. It is not
a part of Win2K.
