I recently had a virus that overproliferated and crashed the system thus making itself
obvious.
I don't know about the INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE message. Search for it in Microsoft
Support:
I loaded another copy of Win2K into a folder (not partition) which I named WIN2K,
leaving WINNT intact. I could boot to either. I had to find all my installation
discs and reinstall (almost) all my devices. Since it was a tenacious virus
which could escape detection I went back and forth between the 2 systems shooting
down the virus until I got it all.
