I have a Dell Latitude XP laptop running Windows 95 with an external BackPack CD-Rom
drive, model #181100 by “MicroSolutions”. I am trying to install Windows 2000 Pro
with the intent of upgrading to XP. Here is my problem. I get all the way through
the installation process to where it’s looking for the CD drive. It has me press
“S” to install external hardware. Then ask to insert disk Manufacturer Hardware Support
Disk (it’s looking for TXTSETUP.OEM). I insert the disk with that file. Screen comes
up configure for “BackPack Series 5-6 Drive”. Then ask to insert disk with BP32DRV4.SYS,
I do so. Screen comes up Windows 2000 will load “BackPack Series 5-6 Drive”. Then
comes up Windows 2000 Checking “C” Disk Size, program running about 1 min. checking.
Then ask to insert disk labeled “BackPack Drivers”. And that my problem. I don’t
know what files the program is ask for. The drives from “MicroSolutions” is in an
.EXE file. I extracted the drives from this .EXE file but none of them in the installation
process. Does anyone know what drivers Windows is looking for?
